Campsite Termas da Azenha
Termas da Azenha is a small village with a terrain of 2,5 ha. We do not have an official campsite, but just a special terrain, type "camping on a farm". You can put your tent or caravan whereever you like, there are no indicated places. You pay per place, not per person. The car may stay on the terrain, but there is also a parkinglot. There are never many people to camp, specially in spring and autumn, you will probably be by yourself. In summer, there are many families with (young) children.
The old thermal baths are the centre of the tiny village. We also have a café with an outside bar and a nice terrace, where you can have a drink in the afternoon and evening. If you do not feel like cooking: we cook dinner every day, and you can join us. We preliminary use products which grow in this part of the country. Moreover, many vegetables are home-grown and we do not use fertilizers. Every year, the orchard provides a huge amount of oranges, mandarins, apples, figs and peaches. We use this excessive harvest to make delicious jam. The baker brings us fresh bread every morning.
The camp equipment is simple, but sufficient and in good repair: toilets, a shower, in which you can enjoy the healing water and a part where you can do the dishes. The electricity connection is 16 ampere, 220 volt. There is a possibility nearby to buy a gas bottle and/or change it, in case you use butane or propane gas. We ask you friendly to only use environmentally friendly substances for your chemical toilet, that is because we use a septic tank.
The nearest swimming pool is located in the village Sobral, approximately 4 kilometres from the Termas. The nearest beach is at a distance of 12 km. You can go by train to places like Figueira da Foz and Coimbra. There is a trainstation nearby (10-minute-drive).
Prices
We offer spacious camp places and you only pay for the place, so the price does not depend on the number of persons (but with a maximum of 5) and you do not have to pay for your car. The places cost € 12,50 per night, electricity (€ 2,50 per day) not included. The price for a dinner is € 12,-. Besides that, you can use the washing-machine for € 5,- per turn.
It also is possible to rent a caravan (sleeps 2). The caravan costs € 12,50 per day and per week € 85,-, plus 2,50 for electricity. For more information, please click on accommodation. The caravans do not have cook facilities.
Surroundings
Termas da Azenha is situated in very varied surroundings; the rice valley contais a rich flora and fauna; the eucapltus trees smell delightfully; the beaches offer refreshment and you can walk to you heart’s content in the serra’s. Of some nine walks, a description is available.
