Shareholders
We bought the village, based on our own capital and the participation of various shareholders. These participants decided to do so, knowing that this is a so-called teaktree-investment: slowly growing, focused on the fine balance with nature present and everything related with that. As yet these shareholders are participants who are not rewarded in rates and percentages, but in the right to reside. As soon as the project is being profitable, this will change. We expect it to be so in 2007, when the greater part of the village will be ready.
Our joint interest is the creation of a holiday resort where there is full attention for the cohesion of man and nature in a responsible, and pleasant way.
Meio Gordo Actividades Turísticas Lda., by name of the Termas da Azenha, is approved by ECEAT (European Centre for Eco Agro Tourism).
The minimum participation in the share capital is established at 5.000€ or 1% of the joint capital.
Meio Gordo Actividades Turisticas Lda. (Limitada is Portuguese for Limited) also issues obligations, with a nominal value of 500€ at a rate of 5%. These obligations have a currency of max. 5 years. From the third year, one third of the current obligations will be drawn out and paid back.
The two series of obligationsloans are issued in 2002 and 2003.
After a period of years the project is now solidly rooted in the Portuguese society, which means that the bureaucracy is intergrated in daily management, the necessary contacts are made, a number of licences are obtained and the P.R. is internationalized.
Our plans for the future; contain the rebuilding and renovation of the rest of the premises, i.e. the thermal baths; to start the exploitation of the mineral water and the thermal baths, the extension of the exploitation of the accommodation and the amplification of the position of the company by means of co-operation between equal companies in Portugal and scouting the European, especially the Portuguese and Spanish, market.
