NEWSLETTER NUMBER 20 

Winter 2008 is already history, dear readers. It was beautiful, as ever, with many misty mornings which revealed the landscape in a slowslowslow way. A lot of sun, but luckily also rain. We never thought we would welcome the rain, being Dutch as we are!

It was a quiet winter, cosy and close to the fire, with the wood from our own olivetrees. And yet, in spite of, or maybe thanks to, the cosyness of those evenings, there has been done a lot, too. Many improvements, because specially in winter, we build a lot. Here under you can read everything about it, ánd about the nice plans we have (making a FILM a.o.) for coming Summer.

THE RAINROOM

 In the last Newsletter, we promised you an impression of the Rainroom. So here it is.

We experienced some sessions in there (give massages and receive them), and it is certainly something, such a RainRoomMassage! Fully recommended! 

So now we have three types of totally different massageforms: the Cave-massages, the RainRoommassages and the cromotherapymassages, massages under coloured light.

FRESH PAINT
There are two wonderful new murals in the bathhouse, both upstairs. One in the hallway, one in the suite.
The maker of "The Oaktrees" (above) has stayed in Portugal for months during this winter, to write a textbook to learn the Dutch language. If you should seek rest to initiate or finish a special project, than the Termas is thé place to do that. Nicole not only wrote the book, but also made this lovely painting/mural, and made long walks too.
So if you are or know someone, who needs Dutch lessons, than we are delighted to pass the address of a talented teachter. (cantanicole@hetnet.nl)

SOLAR KITCHEN

The kitchen in the bathhouse has been enlarged and improved.We have learned from a professor of the University of Faro, Prof. Engº. Celestino Ruivo, how to cook on solar energy, without any complicated devices.This is what we want to put into daily practice in and with our new Solar Kitchen. In 2007 there were some "solarcooking"-workshops in the Termas, and there will be more in 2008. These workshops are for Portuguese only.

 

  The Solar kitchen gives access to the outside at the back of the bathhouse, a  protected sunny place, where we are going to realize the Outside Kitchen. Cooking on solar energy.

 If you want to know more about Solar Cooking, you are very welcome to join us during the Portuguese Cooking Workshops coming fall, because then we will use this technique for sure.

PORTUGUESE COOKING WORKSHOPS

In the month of October we will celebrate the Portuguese cuisine: we will organise a week learning to cook in a traditional Portuguese way.

After such a week, the bacalhau, the caldeirada, the feijoada, and much more, will no longer be a secret for you.It will not be vegetarian, but we do have some vegetarian dishes, allthough not traditional.

The groups will be maximum 10 participants.As from beginning of April you can find all information on our site, and from then on you can make your reservation.

THESE WEEKS ARE MADE FOR WALKING

Like we do every year, we planned a few weeks for walking groups.Always very agreable, good to meet other people (specially very attractive for singles) and nice to enjoy nature with a group of people.You can make marvellous walks in the environment of the Termas, more than enough for a whole week of intense walking pleasure.

Tip: in October it is possible to do a week Cooking first, and to walk off the extra kilos the next!

THE FILM

The first two weeks of July are dedicated to the making of our own FILM. Everybody present is welcome to join in. We are going to write our own script, texts, dialogues; we will invent our parts and costumes.The costume-part should not be very difficult, in such a well-filled dressingroom!

The first week will be the Brainstorm- & PracticeWeek, the second one the Shoot. Everyone, young and old, is invited to join us! From the beginning of April it will be on our site.

If you´d prefer to laze the day away, we don´t have a problem. We made a nice place to hang around .....
