Sabbaticals

Productive life is demanding. It seems to be more and more a problem, proved by a counter movement, which attracts more and more attention: a call for slow life, steady on, time for awareness, what is it all about in life? The balance between price and quality seems to be lost; people are looking for the true values of life
The standard is production, the value is enjoy. Two things hard to combine in most lives.

Already a few years ago we got the first request for a sabbatical. Someone wanted to stay for a couple of months and informed about special arrangements. We complied with the request and it was a pleasure for both parties. From time to time someone stops by to recuperate from the hasty existence in a production-focused society.

Shortly after "Slowlife" presented itself, a Dutch firm specialized in attending and advising in matters concerning a sabbatical. In the mean time, this term symbolizes: to go on a (non) paid leave, while retaining position and do other things than just work, work, work.
"Slowlife" administers a comprehensive directory of locations, of which the Termas da Azenha is one.

As we already stated: there is a demand for "slow", not meaning that nothing may happen or only in a tedious, lingering way, but, on the contrary, that one is looking for the right pace in the right place at the right time. "Slow" is more: concentrating on the things that make life worth living. That means sometimes fast, sometimes slow, all the time looking for the most favourable tempi. Squashing and surfing on the internet you do preferably fast; you enjoy a nice diner or a romantic love-affair preferably slow.
Like this, life will be more like a beautiful, harmonious piece of music.
"Slow" is the counterpoise of having more to do in eventually less time, the counterbalance of haste. Haste leads to superficiality. If you are always in a hurry, you just hit the surface of life and you don't establish real contacts with other people or beings.
"Slow" means to have more time to find engrossment in everything you do.

We are always deliberating what to do or how it might be done. You are very welcome for more information at info@termas-da-azenha.com.
